Cendrine Marrouat: Where can people purchase the books?
DeWayne Alston: Anyone interested in purchasing my books can go to http://www.lulu.com/parkheights215. Both are available there. People have the option to purchase a hardcopy or a digital download.
CM: Finally, you are a freelance writer. You write for RazorsEdge Magazine and Examiner.com. What topics do you cover?
DA: I have a technology column in RazorsEdge Magazine called "Tech Soup." I write product reviews and share information on emerging technologies. From time to time, I contribute articles to other sections of the magazine. RazorsEdge is a lifestyle magazine for the fashion and hair care industries. I serve as the Baltimore Technology Examiner where I essentially have the same duties that I have for Tech Soup.
CM: As an independent artist and entrepreneur, what are the main challenges that you encounter?
DA: The main challenge that I notice, mainly from the standpoint of owning a radio station, is challenging the status quo. What I mean by this is that the market that I seek to enter in radio is used to listening to radio by traditional means. Terrestrial radio has been a staple of world culture forever. Technological advances are just beginning to get to a level where the playing field can be levelled. That and the constant striving to properly brand Soul City Radio, which is another key factor in the success of any business.
CM: What is next for you?
DA: Working on a proposal for an idea that my business partner came up with. If all things go well, it’s going to be something special as well as a major step in the branding that I spoke of earlier. I don’t want to give it away yet, though.
CM: How can people find more about you?
DA: I’m very accessible. Facebook is the primary means of contacting me. You can also find me on Twitter through either @soulcity_radio or @bmoretechexamin. Please check out my Examiner.com site.
CM: Is there anything that you would like to add?
DA: I’d just like to say thank you to you for providing me this opportunity. I really do appreciate it. I hope that I was helpful with my answers.
End of the interview.
