Actor Robert Knepper took time out of his busy schedule to tell his fans about his new CW show called ‘Cult’ which airs Tuesdays at 9 ET. Best known for his roles in 'Prison Break' and 'Shameless', as well as appearing in major films 'Hitman' and 'Transporter 3', this Ohio born states that “good story telling doesn't always give you immediate answers but instead makes you ask questions.”
Q. The premise of ‘Cult’ being a show-within-a-show sounds confusing and fascinating at the same time. Being that this is a brand new show; can you give your fans a breakdown of how the storylines of the shows characters and followers are going work together?
A. As the writers have alluded to in the script, CULT is already thought of as a big hit! (Let's hope YOUR prediction of being a "hit" comes true!) I think it's a very clever, smart idea told in such a simple way. I'm very proud to be a part of it. Even my 10 year old understands the premise. No explanation of plot needed. Just watch the show! And understand that sometimes good story telling doesn't always give you immediate answers but instead makes you ask questions.
Q. Your character name alone sounds a bit twisted. Tell your fans about what drives the characters of Billy Grimm and Roger Reeves.
A. Billy and Roger share a common goal. They're very demanding of themselves and don't suffer fools gladly.
Q. What’s it like on the set of ‘Cult’, and how are you fairing with filming in Vancouver?
A. Season one finished shooting in December. We love our crew and they love us! It's always great to go to play instead of to work every day, with such a great family. IGU VANCOUVER! If you watch the wrap up/after party for last night's show, you'll see I have some fun with imitating people. I love being funny! I started in the theater when I was 9 and believe it or not, always played the funny part!
Q. So that your fans can get to know the real Robert Knepper, do you have any hidden talents such as writing, singing, sports?
I grew up singing around the piano with my family instead of watching television. I looooove singing! And anything to do with the outdoors, with nature, I'm game!
Q. I'm going to end with what's become my signature question. If you were a baseball player, what would your walk up song be? What song pumps you up and inspires you?
A. funny you should ask about baseball! There's another infamous "robert knepper" out there. He used to be a pitcher for the Angels (i think), and then played for Houston. Every once in awhile, mixed in with my fan mail, will be letters from HIS fans, asking me to sign his baseball card. Not one to let the fans down, I oblige instead of throwing away the card!
So, I'm curious if Bob Knepper has ever wanted to trade places with me for a day and what would be HIS "go to," inspirational tune! Mine would be some pumping music from the film, ‘Gladiator.’ Also love any driving song by The Boss, Bruce Springsteen.
