Interview with C. Elizabeth, author of 'Soul Control'

We’re talking today to the very talented young adult paranormal romance author, C. Elizabeth, who is creating quite a fan base. C. Elizabeth lives in St. Albert, Alberta, Canada and during her short writing career she’s learned a lot about herself, sometimes to the point that she wonders how the heck she got this far in life and know so little about herself.

For the majority of her life she dabbled in many things, such as drawing, photography, sewing, only to find that after a while, she would lose interest, but writing is a different story — it found her and continues to be an addiction, as well as a most wonderful, incredible passion.

Not only does she write novels, but she does whatever she can to hone her craft. Such as attending the New York Pitch Conference, seminars and the like, as well, she writes for online magazines on the topic of… you guessed it, writing.

And she writes darn good books. We interviewed her to find out what inspired her to start writing and whether she thought she would ever be as successful as she is today.

Thank you for this interview, C. Elizabeth. What inspired you to start writing?

Writing wasn’t something that I thought about until the day my first characters popped into my head, wanting their story told. My characters are what inspire me, I’ve always said they are the story tellers and I am simply the narrator.

Soul Control is about gods and demons, what was it that made you want to start writing about gods and demons?

It seemed the world had been inundated with vampires and wolves and really what a great story to have two star-cross lovers from opposite sides of the supernatural track, especially when one doesn’t know about their true ancestry.

Did you your think your writing was going to take you anywhere?

Of course, all writers hope that their novel will be the next big hit. However, for me it isn’t about financial gains it’s the excitement to have young minds read Soul Control to bring Saydi and Nathanael to life.

When you’re writing does it come to you all of a sudden or do you need to ponder for hours?

Once I sit down to write, it comes. Once the first sentence rolls onto the page, it leads into the next, then the next, so on and so forth.

How did you come up with the title Soul Control?

It was simple really, that’s what the story is about.
