With all the commotion about the 8 Binns Management clients on the Bellator MMA 118 fight card, some other highly anticipated fights have been flying under the radar. Binns Management client David "K.O." Jordan has been wanting to get back into the cage for a while, and April 25th at CES MMA: XXIII he gets the chance to. David Jordan is a Lightweight Professional MMA fighter signed with Binns Management. Jordan fights out of Beastman MMA in Las Vegas, NV. Beastman MMA is an MMA gym run by former UFC Light Heavyweight Marvin "The Beastman" Eastman. Jordan trains alongside fellow Binns Management client and World Series of Fighting veteran Boostayre Nefarios. Jordan currently holds a Professional MMA record of 0-2, but both of his losses were tough competitive contests that he lost via Split Decision. I had the chance to speak to David Jordan on a number of things including his upcoming CES MMA fight:
Kyle Holdsworth: What’s it like having Binns Management represent you as a Professional fighter?
David Jordan: It's great, when I need him he gets it done, and gets it done fast. It's a good look for me because sometimes manager's take forever to get back to you, but with him Binns Management gets results.
KH: What type of obstacles have you had to face getting your upcoming fight?
DJ: We started off having a fight the week before. I was cutting weight, and then got word the fight was off. Jimmy Binns Jr. said he had something for me the next week though and it turned out to be CES MMA 23. This weight was even better for me at 170 so I don't have to cut much weight. I had some issues with the medicals, because the State Commission does things a little differently, but we had all of that straightened out. All that stuff is done and out of the way and we're going to get it done tonight.
KH: How has your training camp been going for your fight at CES MMA?
DJ: It was really good. One of the strongest camps I've ever had. I've gone harder in this training camp than ever before.
KH: You’re fighting Eric Spicely tonight at CES MMA: XXIII. What are your thoughts on him as an opponent and how do you see this fight going down?
DJ: I look at the film and he looks one-dimensional to me. I dont think he takes a punch well. I think all he looks for is jiu-jitsu, and I feel like I'm better than him. I want to go in there and defend all of his takedowns and I think I'm going to end up knocking him out.
KH: Thank you for taking the time to do this interview. Is there anyone you would like to thank or give a shout out to?
DJ: I'd like to thank my coach Marvin Eastman, Jimmy Binns Jr. and Binns Management. I'd like to thank my parents, thank God, and I'd like to thank Dave Howard and all the Jiu-Jitsu guys over at Fight Capitol.
CES MMA: XXIII is taking place on April 25th at the Twin Rivers Casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island. For more information on CES MMA go to the Official CES MMA website, or check out the CES MMA Facebook Page.
