Binns Management has a number of things going on with their many clients (article on Binns Management client upcoming schedule HERE). Binns Management has 2 fighters in the Bellator MMA Season 10 tournaments (Article on Will Martinez advancing to the Bellator MMA Featherweight Semi-Finals HERE & article on Sam Oropeza fighting in the first round at Bellator MMA 112 HERE), and 4 more clients fighting at CES MMA: XXII. Brylan Van Artsdalen is one of the four scheduled to fight in Lincoln, Rhode Island at the Twin River Casino on March 14th at CES MMA: XXII.
Van Artsdalen is a Daddis Fight Camps product, and a long time Binns Management client. He's fought for Bellator MMA 8 times, and in his career has defeated the likes of Julio Rosario, current Bellator Bantamweight title contender Anthony Leone, and Strikeforce veteran Billy Vaughan. I had a chance to speak to Brylan Van Artsdalen about his upcoming fight:
Kyle Holdsworth: What made you want to become a Professional Mixed Martial Artist?
Brylan Van Artsdalen: That’s the million dollar question, wrestled since 5, always had a love for competition. I was in the military at the time, because I needed a little bit of a release from my job, due to some anger management because I kept getting into some tussles. So I decided to fight and tell my coaches at Daddis that I wanted to fight, they laughed and then we got to work.
KH: How did you come to be in business with Jimmy Binns Jr. and how has it helped your career so far?
BVA: Met Jimmy in 2008 through Sam Caplan [Bellator MMA Matchmaker], he followed me throughout my career. A couple years ago when things became tough, it was Sam Caplan who talked to me about Jimmy helping me out. I’ve always trusted Jimmy with helping me make the right decision throughout my career. It took the burden of calling up promoters and finding the right fights for myself. Jimmy is helpful with everything as a manager.
KH: You're fighting an undefeated fighter named Charles Rosa at CES MMA 22. How do you see this fight going and what's your prediction?
BVA: I been training my butt off. I had a tough 2013. I took some time off to train instead of just fight constantly. I took a few months off and re-tooled myself with some new techniques, and practicing the technical game of fighting instead of being athletic and in good shape. I’ve gone back to the drawing board for this fight. I’m not worried about what he has or who he trains with. I’m not really thinking too much into the prediction. I just want to beat him up for three rounds. Take the ‘W’ any way I can, because I don’t think this kid has enough for me. The way I’ve been training, I’m a whole different fighter in my mind now. Charles Rosa is fighting a whole different Brylan Van Artsdalen.
