Australia native Xavier Rudd has been making music since 2000 and touring the country pretty much non-stop since then. With a new duo added to his band and live show, dubbed the Zulu word Izintaba, Xavier Rudd & Izintaba will be coming to Red Rocks Amphitheater in Denver on August 20, 2010. Xavier Rudd was kind enough to answer a few questions before he came through Colorado.
What's your favorite thing about Red Rocks?
Powerful country, the obvious things are my favorite; it is just an incredible amphitheatre in this world. Very stoked to play there!
How do you think this tour differs from previous tours?
This tour will be our first tour through the USA since the release of Koonyum Sun. Support shows with Rodrigo y Gabriela will be cool, summer in the USA is always different.
Do you think playing live with Izintaba will be different now that you have an album?
We have been touring for a while since the album came out but it is special we are proud of the record, our shows and energy change daily on tour.
How do your live shows further your music?
I feel my live shows are my music; everything blossoms from the live shows.
How do your fans influence you?
It's kind of like some kind of church for me playing live. Each show good people from different pockets of the world come and open their soul and let their spirit's mingle and dance. That energy comes up through me and all I do is channel it, it's like a circular motion and very sacred.
Make sure you go check out Xavier Rudd & Izintaba at Red Rocks next Friday and pick up their new album Koonyum Sun while you’re at it.
