Atlanta Youth Hockey examiner has been invited to share exclusive highlights of the annual AAA One Hockey tournament with One Hockey president Sebastien Fortier. Several Atlanta youth players atr competing in the tournament and looking for an opportunityto win the One Hockey Cup. Fortier said” Our tournament has received a lot of compliments and we work extremely hard to provide a quality product. I am glad to have the opportunity to share some of the event highlights with examiner readers.”
Examiner: Sebastien I know you and your team work diligently to make this tournament a great success. For several years I have seen you grow and talked to many happy and satisfied kids and parents. Can you tell me about any problems you have had to overcome to make this year’s tourney a success?
Fortier: As a matter of fact this year has had its share of problems we have had to work through. One issue that has irritated me was our uniform supplier not sending our team jackets with the rest of the materials. It is my number one goal to exceed expectations and we probably will not get that handled before the tournament is over.
Examiner: What do you do in a case like that?
Fortier: Get lawyers involved and pursue litigation.
Examiner: What about the jackets?
Fortier: We will either offer a prorated refund or possibly provide credit for next year’s tournament. We are examining several options to make sure we satisfy our participants.
Examiner: How has the 97-98 Division performed so far?
Fortier: Very solidly. Some teams have come out of the gate stronger than others. Team Atlantic appears to be an early favorite. Team Atlantic has a good mixture of players from all over Canada.
Examiner: What are your feelings about the 98 Division?
Fortier: Team Finland has been flying from the start and seem to have a strong core of players with lots of finesse. Flypuck previously lost against them but everyone is expecting an exciting finals matchup for the One Hockey Cup.
Examiner: Tell me how you decided to make the One Hockey Cup given to each division winner look like the Stanley Cup?
Fortier: The cup celebration is one of the most exciting moments of the tournament. The emotion, enthusiasm and excitement displayed when NHL teams won the cup made us want to duplicate it for our kids. Parents often say it is a moment they never have forgotten whether their children went on in hockey of not.
Examiner: How about the 99 Division?
Fortier: The 99’s have 10 or so teams and Team Pacific from Vancouver, Canada is looked upon as the favorite right now. Another top contender Team Atlantic has played well and they have excellent two players from Switzerland on their squad.
Examiner: What’s your thought on the 96-97 Silver Division?
Fortier: The Fly Puck team starts off as strong contenders and the Ontario Zingers are not far behind. We will know more after a few more matches.
Examiner: You mentioned that the game featuring Pure Hockey versus Encore Hockey was one for the tournament record books?
Fortier: Yes, It resulted in the biggest upset in our tournaments history. Pure hockey seemed to overwhelm Encore in a early matchup only ti be upset in the second game against Encore 4-3. It was a superb game.
Examiner: Why are so many scouts hanging around your tournament?
Fortier: I think it is because they get to make notes on a lot of talented youth players and watch some of our kids play against European competition.
Examiner: Any predictions about cup winners by division?
Fortier: Too soon to tell, but FlyPuck is undefeated as of this interview.
Examiner: What is your projection about next year given you have grown each year you have been in existence?
Fortier: I confidently predict double participants next year. I am also offering a special 20% discount through Sunday close of business for early enrollment for next year’s One Hockey tournament.
