Did you miss any of “Devious Maids” this summer? If so, you are in luck. Lifetime is running an all-day marathon of their hit summer series on Sunday, September 22nd from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. followed by the shocking season finale at 10:00 p.m. Series star Susan Lucci teased that the finale brings an air of mystery and intrigue to her character Genevieve and the maids who work in the Beverly Hills households, starting with the mystery surrounding Flora’s (Paula Garces) death. “The mystery around Flora’s death definitely comes to a boiling point,” teases Lucci teased to Daytime TV Examiner during a conference call earlier this week. The actress doesn’t know if the mystery will be completely wrapped up by episode’s end because there will be a Season 2.
Working on the show has been a joy for the Emmy-winning actress who is best known as “All My Children icon Erica Kane. Lucci admires her "Maids" co-stars very much starting with co-star Judy Reyes, who plays Genevieve’s maid Zoila.
“I adore Judy Reyes and am so happy that I get to work with her,” says Lucci, “I admire her so much. She’s present every time we play a scene. We rehearse, she’s a pro, she’s so talented, and she’s warm. I just love working with Judy. I love the relationship that Head writer and creator Marc (Cherry) has written for us.”
With everything that has happened on the show this season, Lucci herself was surprised every episode, right along with the viewers.
“Every time we got a script we were surprised,” Lucci said of the episodes this season. “And I think that’s a hallmark to Marc’s writing. There are hilarious scenes and then there are some scenes with hear. Then there’s always the intrigue, the mystery and I’m hearing from viewers that every single week – that we’re peeling the onion every week—with the twists and turns and surprises both in plot and in character and I must say, I love that.”
With “Devious Maids” set to begin shooting Season 2 in January and her hit Investigation Discovery series “Deadly Affairs” currently shooting its second season, could Lucci’s long awaited appearance on the “All My Children” reboot still happen?” Although her plate is currently full and may keep Erica Kane away from Pine Valley for the foreseeable future, Lucci keeps the lines of communication open. The actress says she has had recent talks with the show, now produced by Prospect Park, and will always talk to creator Agnes Nixon who is a friend and whom she admires very much. Lucci admits that she’s been talking with Nixon since “All My Children” left ABC and will continue to talk to her always.
With Lucci’s busy schedule, which includes appearances on HSN promoting her unique brand of lifestyle products, how does she keep all of her affairs in order? Lucci credits her show business partnership with husband Helmut Huber for her success.
“I think that you have to want to do it,” Lucci said when asked about running her business empire. My husband is a spectacular leader in the business aspect of our show business partnership. He’s been great and he’s full of energy and creativity. So, we’re in it together and as I said you really have to have the desire to do it. “
