On Jan. 20, pop music star Cody Simpson chatted via telephone with Examiner about his "Acoustic Sessions" tour, as well as his "Acoustic Sessions" EP. A native of Australia, Simpson is signed to Atlantic Records.
Regarding his tour, Simpson shared, "It's awesome to be able to come out and doing something a little different than I've done in the past. It's raw and it's organic and it's an experience that my fans have not seen from me before."
The Aussie pop star added, "It's great to be able to come out and do something that is much more 'me.' I feel so much more comfortable up there in my guitar and doing it that way."
Simpson will be playing at the Highline Ballroom tomorrow in New York City. "That feels good to be playing up in New York again. I love playing there and being in the city. I am really looking forward to it," he said.
Simpson noted that he had intentions of doing his "Acoustic Sessions" EP for quite a while now. "I was trying to put together some acoustic versions of some songs with my musical director and my guitarist. We put together five songs," he said.
He revealed that his personal favorite song on his new EP is the second track called "All Day." "It was an old song of mine that was fully produced and we made it really organic and put together a reggae version of it," he said.
Last year, he was awarded the "Role Model Award" at the Young Hollywood Awards. "That was awesome to be able to be acknowledged to something other than the music. It was really cool," he shared. "It really meant more to me than any other award that I had been acknowledged for."
Simpson continued, "It's great to be acknowledged for your music, but also to be able to do good for people, especially for causes such as teen cancer and anti-bullying. I am heavily involved in all of those charities and organizations. It was awesome to be recognized for some of those things. I really do my best to try and be the best role model possible for my fans."
Yet another flattering feeling for Simpson was to be nominated for the "Radio Disney Award" for "Best Male Artist," as well as to be afforded the opportunity to perform live on that award show. "That was a really cool experience for me," the pop sensation acknowledged.
Most recently, he celebrated his 17th birthday at show in Los Angeles, California. "I don't know if I feel any different, but it's great to start off the new year and it's cool to be able to kick off the tour," he said.
Simpson shared that his fans are his greatest motivations in life and he subsequently thanked them for all of their support.
