Daytime TV Examiner caught up with the four- time Emmy nominee on the Daytime Emmy Red Carpet to get his thoughts on this year’s ceremony and to also chat about how he relaxes when he’s not working.
Check out the interview below:
Phyllis: Congratulations on your Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. You are right up in there with all those CBS boys. I’m glad your work didn’t get overlooked.
Jason Thompson: Yeah. It is what it is. I’m just happy to represent “General Hospital” so it’s nice.
Phyllis: Talk a bit about the scenes you submitted for the Emmy. I feel that were a number of great scenes you could have submitted.
Jason Thompson: You get into a process of looking at stuff that you feel represents you. I thought when I watched it, it represented the show really well. The writing was great…the writing was so great and Teresa (Castillo, Sabrina) and I were great so I thought…I felt comfortable. Whatever is going to happen, I feel good about it.
Phyllis: How are you feeling about the Emmy ceremony this year?
Jason Thompson: You know, I’m just here to hang out and have a good time with people I haven’t seen a lot since last year. Like Kelly, Kelly Sullivan (ex- Connie, GH), I haven’t seen so I get to see her a little bit. It’s nice.
Phyllis: Now since you get a lot of heavy story on the show, when you are not working how do you keep your days away from the set, light?
Jason Thompson: I don’t know. I surf, I still play hockey. I go to work, I prepare to do my work, I do my work and I go home. Sometimes I watch a hockey game and I try not to think about it for a while. At the end of the day, there are more difficult jobs than I have out there in the world, so I’m not going to complain about working hard.
Phyllis: I know that you helped honor Rick Springfield (Noah, GH) at his Hollywood Walk of Fame Star ceremony. What was that like?
Jason Thompson: It was great. He’s a wonderful man. I was very honored that he asked me to be there.
