Elizabeth Banks may be the funniest actress in Hollywood that you may know by name -- if not, you've probably seen some of her work. Banks' television history includes appearances on "Scrubs," "Modern Family," and "Sex and the City." She has also appeared in "The 40-Year Old Virgin," "W." (as Laura Bush), and in the Kevin Smith movie "Zach & Miri Make a Porno."

On Friday, I had the opportunity to talk with Banks about her new role in "30 Rock," in which she plays Jack Donaghy's love interest Avery.

Matt Carter: So what is like working with Alec on the show?

Elizabeth Banks: Everyone want to know that! I think he's fantastic. He's so charming it's kind of ridiculous, and I think he's working in a zone right now that for his career is really amazing. I think he's so funny and he's done such a great job with the Jack Donaghy character. He seems very delighted by Tina [Fey] and by the script.

So I think he's really happy there. They certainly make a lot of effort to keep him happy there, and I hope he's happy with me, too (laughs).

Matt: Judging from the show, it looks that way. So after you've done so many recurring roles on TV, can you see yourself ever settling down into one show?

Elizabeth: I'm very happy going back and forth right now. I love playing multiple characters. I'm not ready to commit to a single character for multiple years just yet. With that said, I never rule it out. Life is long, but I don't see it happening anytime soon.
