Today, on March 23, Examiner.com had the opportunity to interview filmmaker Casey Neistat about the short film he made for J.Crew's launch of the Ludlow Traveler suit, the newest addition to the Ludlow collection. The award-winning filmmaker created a first person piece called "Travel With Style," which is an original video that highlights how the Ludlow Traveler breaks the mold of the typical button-up look. Inspired by his adventures, the film takes Casey on nine flights to eight cities and portrays what traveling in style means to him, and showcases the versatility of the suit.
From Ixtapa to Big Bear, snowboarding to surfing, Casey wears the specially woven, three-ply Italian wool, wrinkle-resistant Ludlow Traveler suit throughout his journeys – making it the perfect traveling companion. He traveled about 11,000 miles in all! You can watch the film on Casey's YouTube channel or on J.Crew's channel "J.Crew on Film.
Read our exclusive interview with Casey below:
How did the collaboration come about with J. Crew?
It started with a very basic email from J.Crew asking about making a movie. Working with their forward thinking creative team and then trying on the suit really got things moving. They were great to work with and I wear my Traveler all the time! It's literally in my suit case right now.
How did you choose the location for your shoots?
They kind of chose us. Our time for the shoot was so limited we just searched flights to see where we could get next. That's how we landed in Mexico, which was almost Hawaii.
Where are your favorite places to travel?
I love Cape Town, South Africa. Never has a place captured my imagination more than Cape Town.
I am at MIT now, focusing on building a story telling platform. I'd tell you more, but I haven't gotten much further along than that
