On Oct. 26, 2013, Examiner.com attended an event in which the band Jay and Friends performed. The band was the entertainment for the reception of the Scarafone and Roberts wedding held at Saint Luke's Church in Fort Myers, Fla.
The band's vocalist and spokesperson is Cindy Padgett. She shared some of her amazing background that led up to being a band member of this jazz group, Jay and Friends.
The other band members include Jay Heavilin who plays bass, and Armand DeGeno plays keyboard.
"I am a native of Southern California, and I began my singing and dancing career in Orange County at Knott's Berry Farm. I worked in the Wild West Saloon Shows and at Disneyland as Mary Poppins in Fantasy on Parade."
Apparently Florida, California and the United States are not the only locations where Padgett has performed.
From there Padgett went on to Las Vegas to become one of the Fabulous Sahara Girls.
"In Vegas I performed as an opening act for headliners such as Johnny Carson, Buddy Hackett, Jerry Lewis, Don Rickles, Rodney Dangerfield and George Carlin. We girls also performed on the 'The Tonight Show' with Johnny Carson."
Padgett continued to perform as lead singer and dancer for a variety of shows in Reno, Lake Tahoe, Atlantic City, Aruba, and a second tour of Japan.
"After all those tours I ended up back in Vegas performing as lead singer, dancer, and company manager in a seven year running song and dance revue."
Currently Cindy Padgett performs in Southwest Florida, and her years of show biz reflect her and the band's great performances.
"In addition to singing with Jay and Friends, I also teach adults tap dancing."
