TOLN’s productions of “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” were well received at this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards. After producing 40 episodes of each legendary soaps before having to shut down, both series began “little engines that could” in a sense with Emmy nominations and surprise wins. “One Life to Live,” won for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series and Outstanding Production/Set Design for a Drama Series.

For actress/singer/songwriter, Denyse Tontz, and "All My Children," it was a big night as well. The actress, who played Miranda Montgomery (Erica Kane’s granddaughter) on the soap, took home an Emmy last weekend for Outstanding Original Song in a Drama Series. The song, entitled, "Parachute", was performed on "All My Children" by Miranda who played an aspiring singer/songwriter on the show.

Tontz presented at the Creative Ceremony with her “All My Children” co-star Eric Nelsen who played AJ Chandler on the show.

Now focusing on music full time, Tontz will release her latest single and video next month for "Mr. Hipster.”

Daytime TV Examiner caught up with Tontz and her producer, Suren Wijeyaratne before and after the awards to get their thoughts on the award, to talk about working on the song and to talk about the new music the duo has coming up.
