INTERVENTION: "LINDA." Intervention Season Eight Premiere tonight 9/8c. Credit: A&E Television.
Linda was an "extra" in television shows and movies, ("I loved it, it was my biggest fantasy..") but now she is her own doctor and her own pharmacist.
Using fentanyl, "a painkiller 200 times stronger than morphine," Linda got addicted to the opiates that she used to ward off the pain she experienced after the onset of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, also known as "cutis hyperelastica" (an inherited connective tissue disease, affecting the joints and skin, caused by a defect in the synthesis of collagen, which results in lost strength and elasticity, tissue fragility, possible dislocation, and pain). The escalated drug use has affected her sanity and her relationships. Her family turns to an intervention as her last hope. "I have to do what I have to do… they're after me…"

Official A&E Intervention episode description:
After graduating college, Linda found success working as an extra in Hollywood, achieving the glamorous life she always wanted. But her dreams died when she came down with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a rare disorder characterized by joint dislocations. Linda started taking fentanyl, a painkiller 100 times stronger than morphine. As her painkiller use escalated, she claimed that different sources were causing her pain, including electricity, energy, colors, and even specific people. Despite Linda's wild claims, her mother clings to the belief that Linda's pain is real and she must do everything to help her, including depleting the family's savings and sending her son to be Linda's caretaker.

why is Linda sucking a lollipop all the time?
opioids.com/fentanyl/perc-a-pop.html
@Michie: That's a Fentanyl lollipop...it's the painkiller that she's addicted to. The drug is absorbed into the blood stream orally.
So sad how she has manipulated her parents.
My lovely Comcast cable went out right at the typically perfect timing - the end of the show!!! How did it end? Did she go to rehab? Did it work? I doubt it, 'cause she was a delusional witch who cared nothing about her own brother who WASTED his life to help her and don't even get me started on her moronic mother who clearly cared ONLY about a manipulative lying sack of trash daughter, but never mind her son. How sad for the brother.
Linda went in for treatment & hasn't used the Fentanyl. She was diagnosed with a delusional disorder (imagine that). The ending credits didn't mention whether she was still diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome though.
The mom went in for inpatient treatment for 2 weeks for her codependency.
The end result was a relief, because I didn't think the mom would stop buying her crap.
Bless your heart for replying Coco - I couldn't stop thinking about it. I wanted to personally find Linda and give her the smackdown of a lifetime and then punch her parents in the face for what they did to their son over that selfish witch of a daughter. I had ZERO sympathy for Linda.
I would love to see a followup on this woman somewhere down the road. She was such a manipulative wretch - and her mother just as delusional, to buy into such outrageous claims. I sincerely hope that they both put in the work to get back in touch with reality; no one in their family deserves to have their own lives put on hold like that to watch over a blatant liar. Poor Sam. Eight years. A disgrace.

I wanted to hug Sam and then take him to Vegas to party for like 8 months. Poor boy, we cheered him on when he tackled her at the end. Linda can go EAD for all I care.
It's easy to be furious at Linda, but the truth is, she was clearly suffering from a very real mental illness. That doesn't make her "a bitch," or anything else these posters have said about her. She needed help. I hope her family is doing better and I hope that Linda is finally being properly treated.
@Jane, I too wanted to give her AND her mother a smackdown... @Kate, I hope they do a follow-up too. I'm so intrigued! @kephy, Let's look Sam up - I'm in for an extended Vegas trip too, LOL!
My heart goes out to all of these people, I admire her brother for caring for her, but think that it was too long for him...but can imagine how things work, because I know from my friend who's also from China, that asking help outside the family is almost impossible....Hurray for making the decision to do so!! xxxx to Sam
I know Linda, and think its amazing the thoughts of her from everyone! She is a really nice person but has problems like all of us
This page came up in a search & feel a few things need to be cleared up regardless of whoever 'Linda' is

EHLERS DANLOS SYNDROME IS NOT SOMETHING YOU "COME DOWN WITH" - it IS AN INHERITED GENETIC DISEASE THAT IS PHYSICALLY DISABLING, AS WELL AS POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING (definitely for those w/ the VASCULAR TYPE, which has a life expectancy of 40-50 yrs old). For most of us, the chronic & severe pain of our joints continually dislocating or subluxing (partial dislocations) is more than any 'normal' person could ever bear & Pain Rx (usually in the form of Fentanyl Transdermal PATCHES is part of every day life. Any pain mgt doctor will tell you if you have true pain, it is NOT very common to become addicted, as I can attest that the relentless pain seems to suck up every bit of it. EDS has stolen my life & left me w/ Advanced Degenerative Spine Disease on top of all the other joint, tissue & organ damage & permanently disabled + bedridden w/ a Svc Dog for the rest of my young life
The below is from "Linda" via the forums on A&E's website. Wing nut engaged.
"Hi! Its really me. The name of the movie is Deuce Bigolow male Gigolo. Thank you. Sorry for the confusion with the email adresses I was in the library and logged on under someone elses address.
OK My sincere apology to the EDS community. I was as Disappointed as everyone else. I am on a time constraint so I have a more formal statement
I will post later. I really did set out to help the EDS community and unfortunately the producers just had another plan. I would never had brought up the subject of Electricity but after the discussions about EDS with the "producers were done after 2 days of filming they told me they wanted me to make a video to convince my family about the reality of the electrical issues so I did carry on never thinking it would air as I was aware it was Intervention and Electrical stuff had absolutely nothing to do with Drug addiction. Also having to deal with all the microphones cameras and battery pack was another hurdle I was trying to overcome. I sincerely regret not hiding the issue better. It was a huge disservice to People with EDS and I am more heartbroken than ever. I truly trusted the producers to do the right thing. If they wanted to
I guess they still could. What was the most disgusting thing "I saw was how they never even showed When I was truly experiencing pain. They picked stupid random moments when they stupid microphone was hitting me when I would say ow. It was F-ing pathetic. What a diservice to pain sufferers everywhere. I have to go now as I don't have a computer. I will post a formal statement tommorrow. And again a sincere apology to pain sufferers everywhere. I never in a million years thought they would do what they did. I was so excited because in the beginning the producers really seemed to take an interest in EDS and I thought that would be the focus. Not trying to make me out like a monster. And for someone who had everything going for me why in the world would I have chosen that life. What emotional reasons would I have had to do what I was doing when Life had given me so much. My life was wonderful my family was wonderful. I will finish my state tommorrow. The Linkizzy77@yahoo.com is my correct address. Thank you for everyones responses good or bad."
