Intervention: Laney, alcoholism. CREDIT: A&E INTERVENTION.
If you have ever wondered how some of the participants from the show Intervention are doing after they've finished treatment (and how they feel about the process of being on the show) check out these videos from A&E. In recovery, and back in the swing of life, they march forward.
Is being the center of an intervention a self-empowering experience? Some think so. Surely, it's hard evidence to keep in the scrapbook of your mind. You in the worst moments of your disease with sprinklings of your family and friends breaking down emotionally around you must work as a powerful deterrent to falling off the wagon. It would be helpful for all of us to have film of ourselves in our worst behavior. Maybe it serves to save your life. Most are still discovering new possibilities for their lives and continuing to work on relationships with their family and friends.
Much more uplifting than the intervention itself (after all, the last few minutes are the only really happy parts of the show--where they agree to go and make it to their destination!) the followups will give you a more balanced feel of the process. You will better understand why interventions work and why families, who are desperate to save someone they love, turn to this process.
Catch up with Kristen, Gina, Adam, Michael, Caylee, Travis, Charles, Sandra, Jason and more. After that, watch more video about the show and interviews with the interventionists who talk about the process of intervention (how it works, why it works). Intervention Follow Ups
Provided for a limited time, Intervention: Laney (Alcoholism).
LANEY: 10|45:13| Laney is an outgoing, intelligent woman who used to have the kind of life other people dream of: a loving husband, money, and the opportunity to travel the world. Unfortunately, all the wealth in the world could not help Laney escape alcoholism.

Laney seems pretty cool! ryancoesATyahoo
Laney's mother created her daughter. Both physically and towards the person she became. That she received ANY sympathy astounded me. That she was indignant at all over Laney's behavior towards her is shocking. That woman stayed with a man who was mentally abusive to her daughter after she neglected her for years in order to find that prize of a husband. (and we don't even know about the other marriages/husbands Laney's mom had that Laney had to go through)
I literally have a lump in my throat, I am so sick about this episode.
As an aside, I am a mother of three- I speak as a mother. I know it is impossible to be a perfect parent and we all do the best we can- truly I know this- but one CAN'T turn a blind eye to neglect and abuse be it mental or physical (I speak of the step-father).
