This Saturday at Riverside Ballet Arts/BRAVA, Intersect Dance Theatre presents L5: Intimate Dialogues. Artistic Director Sofia Carreras has put together a rich and innovative evening of dance highlighting the choreography of company members for this year's first performance. Several of the pieces are solos and duets that share thoughtful investigations through movement and emotion. Guest artists that evening are members of P.L.A.C.E. Performance and Andrew Pearson. Pearson collaborated with Roya Carreras on a duet that they created last summer, and Sofia Carreras has set two solos for company members for the event. Through the generosity of Glenda Carhart, BRAVA opened the doors for Intersect to share these works.
Intersect Dance Theatre company members include Stella Aryan, Roya Carreras, Megan Fowler-Hurst, C.J. Logel, Carlos Medina, Manuel Meza, Alicia Slaughter, and Tracy Tom-Hoon. The dancers have created their own choreography for the evening or are performing themselves. This event not only features the choreographic voices of the company members which was very important to Sofia Carreras, but also has spilled out to include additional dancers from the local area in works created by C.J. Logel and Stella Aryan.
L5: Intimate Dialogues begins at 8pm on January 19, 2013. Doors at Riverside Ballet Arts/BRAVA located in downtown Riverside will open at 7:30pm. If you arrive early you will have an opportunity to meet the dance artists sharing work that evening. There is no actual cost for this performance, but this is a fundraiser for the company, so bring your checkbooks, wallets, or spare change along with your enthusiasm. This evening of dance will truly inspire.
The company has a bright year ahead of them with several performing and producing endeavors. Come meet the members of Intersect Dance Theatre. This will not only be an opportunity to experience the choreography, but also an evening to engage in dialogue and celebrate the art of dance.
