Internet tv

Internet TV is a television service distributed via the internet and like the Web has industry internet television providers. Internet TV allows us to watch what we want when we want to regardless of what’s on TV right now. "The consumer will be king," said Colin Crowell, senior counselor to FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski.

Just recently the FCC issued a report  that stated the set-top box is lacking innovation. The FCC is opening up the set-top box market to greater completion and innovation. A set up box has HD decoders, hard drives for digital video recording, and IP connections to access additional content via an IP network. Set top boxes are the devices on televisions that control video programming

One option for the set-top box is for cable and broadband providers connect the box to the internet modem. FCC is putting together a national broadband internet plan is due which is due in  about 60 days to Congress. The FCC feels adding internet to a set up box could help the consumers nationwide get Web access.

Internet TV has awesome functionality for example we can choose from an archive of programs or from a channel directory. Or another service which is offer to some Subscribers  is the On Demand/Catch Up where internet television service providers take advantage of the internet by showing programs after they have been broadcast.

Internet TV will allow us to effortlessly access video programming, Internet content or entertainment services all in one. Picture this watch we can watch our favorite videos right from our browser, anytime, for free. With full episodes of TV shows both current and classic, full-length movies, web originals, and clips of just about everything.

The technology is being used by current providers of internet television is peer to peer (P2P) technologies and VoD systems where some television VOD systems stream content through a set-top box. The FCC acknowledges that a competitive retail navigation device market has not yet developed.

Internet television is apart of President Obama’s technology agenda and a key to education, energy and economic policies.
