St. Louis – One of the worst things you can discover is someone trying to harm your child. Either online or in person this event can have traumatic results. If you suspect that a child predator is talking to or stalking your child on the Internet you need to contact the proper authorities immediately.
Talk to your children and be as open and honest as possible. They have the information the police will need to catch this criminal. Also, turn the computer off and do not turn it back on. The investigators will need to search your computer.
Contact could occur on the Internet or in online chat rooms and quickly develop to in-person meetings. If you know for a fact that your child is being contacted by a child predator, being sent pornographic materials, or your child is under the age of 18 and has been sexually solicited by someone who knows he or she is under 18 years old contact the following places immediately:
- Local or State Law Enforcement Agencies. In this St. Louis area this would be your local police department or the Metropolitan Police Department of St. Louis. You can call the St. Louis Police Department at 1-314-444-0100.
- National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is another resource that you might need in this situation. You can visit them on the Internet for additional contact information.
- FBI helps find missing children and catch sexual predators. Visit them on the web at FBI.gov or contact them at 1-800-225-5324.
