Over 140 nations have signed on to a treaty limiting the use of mercury. This includes the use of mercury in coal-fired power plants, gold mines, and dentistry, but mercury is still allowed in vaccine preservatives.
Brilliant voids (ScienceNOW)
Galaxies come in great clusters and chains of clusters. Which means there are spaces between those great structures. Since there is little matter there, there is little gravity to restrain the universal expansion. That faster expansion pushes light along, making the galaxies on the far sides of the voids look brighter than they otherwise would.
Wolf vs dog is a matter of timing (Science Daily)
Wolf pups and dog pups both have a critical period of four weeks in which they can become socialized with the creatures around them. Wolves start two weeks earlier, but that means they start when they are more helpless, because wolves and dogs are both born blind and deaf, and their senses turn on at the same time. The upshot is that it's easier for wolf cubs to miss out on socializing with non-wolves.
