August 13th is International Lefthander's Day, an annual “holiday” set aside each day to raise awareness to the advantages and difficulties left-handers face in their day-to-day lives. International Lefthanders Day began in 1992 by the Left-Hander’s Club.
- About 10 percent of the population is left-handed.
- There is a high tendency in twins for one to be left-handed.
- Men are more likely to be lefties, or southpaws, than their female counter-parts.
