International travelers, curious about Colorado beers, can sample, sip and consume a variety of different brews all in one place during the annual Winter Brew Fest at the Mile High Station on January 25.
With an anticipated attendance of 2,000 brew lovers, the annual event has allowed participants check out new breweries and sample a wide range of beers from pale ales to stouts.
"We do this event to expose more people to the amazing craft beers available in Colorado," said Amy de Leon, managing partner of RightOn Productions, a company that organizes the Summer and Winter Brew Fests in Colorado.
More than 45 breweries from all over Colorado have signed up for this annual event. "Even though, we're only 35 miles away in Longmont, we still appreciate opportunities like this to get our beer out there and connect with beer enthusiasts," said Emily Armstrong, who takes care of marketing for Left Hand Brewing.
Locals in attendance will include Avery, Boulder Beer, Breckenridge, Odell’s, Renegade, Ska, Strange Brew, Upslope and Wynkoop. The event also features beers from around the country and the world, including Alaskan, Lagunitas, Angry Orchard and Sapporo.
Most breweries will give away their version of swag with the company's logo on stickers, key chains and accessories such as mouse pads and cuzi covers. These swag products are another way to promote the breweries after the event. Other breweries will distribute free drink coupons during a tour or maps of their production site to redirect individuals wanting to continue the experience at its Colorado site.
"It's a perfect environment to connect with craft beer lovers and share something new with their fans and create new fans," said de Leon, adding the organization is expanding its event offerings to San Diego for the first time in February.
Tip 1: Take advantage of the tasting notes offered by the organizers of the Winter Brew Fest. It helps jog your memory after the event.
Tip 2: Don't forget to check out the silent auction items. Proceeds from the silent auction will benefit Swallow Hill, an organization that supports musicians of folk art, jazz and blues.
Tip 3: Although sold out, the VIP tickets are ideal for purchase, allowing a small number of attendees to roam around the area for the first samples. After the general admission time, crowds will make it almost impossible to walk through the designated areas.
$30 advance/$35 day of event available online until 4:00pm. Cash only at door. The event starts at 7 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m.
