Today is International Beer Day! Whether you prefer an ale, lager, stout or even a home brew, today is all about celebrating one of the oldest known beverages on the planet – beer. From popular sellers like Labatt's, Guinness, Budweiser and Miller Lite, or even any of the hundreds of locally made brews, today is your day to kick back, relax and enjoy your favorite beer.
According to International Beer Day.com, IBD day is celebrated every year on the first Friday in August. So, what is the purpose of having a day celebrating beer? Simple. The creators of IBD had three simple thoughts in mind for today.
International Beer Day was created for good friends, family and beer lovers everywhere to raise a glass and toast our brewers that help us enjoy the greatness of beer. It's also meant to celebrate the dedicated men and women who serve our beer, (so leave those waiters and waitresses a good tip!) and to bring the world together by celebrating all nations and cultures with all the different choices of beer.
Beer is one of the world's oldest prepared beverages, that has been traced back to nearly 9500 BC.
From India to New Zealand and Russia to the United States, many bars, restaurants and pubs all around the world will be celebrating today. For more information, tips and celebration ideas and events, be sure to check out the International Beer Day Facebook page.
No matter how you choose to celebrate International Beer Day, have fun but be sure to drink responsibly.
