Riverside Drive Charter Elementary School is a charter school funded by the Los Angeles Unified School District. However, to maintain an academically rigorous curriculum exceeding state academic standards, the school holds a yearly fundraising drive—International Bazaar.
This year, Riverside Drive Charter’s International Bazaar will be held Saturday, May 10, 2014 from 11:00 AM-6 PM at 13061 Riverside Drive, Sherman Oaks, CA 91423.
The bazaar is held annually to raise funds to help improve the quality of education at Riverside Drive Charter. With tax-deductible donations and the proceeds of fundraisers like the International Bazaar these programs are supported:
• State of the art computer lab
• Computer Lab Instructor
• Drama Program and Drama Teacher
• Physical Education Program
• After school programs including the Homework Club
• Copy Aide (So teachers can focus on teaching)
This year’s International Bazaar will include an arts faire, raffles, and an obstacle course. Plenty of vendors will be there selling their wares as well as tasty treats including food from Africa, the Middle East and Mexico.
Rachel Eli and Takara Adair are co-chairs for the event. In a phone interview, Rachel Eli said, “We’ll also have a silent auction this year with many exciting auction items. There will be quite a few new games this year including Autobahn Car Races, Archery and Battling Battles.” For the games, kids can win tickets that are redeemed for fun prizes at the Prize Booth.
There will also be a stage donated by CBS where live performances will be going on all day. Eli says, “Professional bands will be on hand as well as performances by our kids from the Drama Program.” A Drum Circle will also be present and accepting budding percussion players during parts of the day.
Want to get mom a lovely Mother’s Day gift? A photo booth will be available where pictures can be taken to give to mom.
Eli said, “The prices at the International Bazaar are fair and your money will go a long way.”
The International Bazaar at Riverside Drive Charter seems like the perfect place to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon. See you at the Bazaar!
