Design trends come along with every generation of designers. Some trends are so popular they become a component of style, such as Shabby Chic developed by designer Rachel Ashwell in the early 1990s. The principle of shabby chic was that old things can be very beautiful and chic, even if the fabric or the paint is a little tattered or tarnished. Green living has become a component of style and standard throughout the design industry. By reusing and repurposing furniture and accessories, people are doing a great thing to protect the planet. Using items again and again will continue to be popular.
Economic and social trends have an effect on home décor trends. The trends for 2011 will reflect on family and preserving the past. Pantone is the leading color forecasting company. Designers put a lot of trust in their predictions. Experts’ predict that cool neutrals and muted hues from icy grays to chocolate browns to bright reds, fuchsia purples and sapphire blues will be reflected in paints and fabrics. Trend analysts are noticing a resurgence of people becoming interested in their roots and becoming more interested in patterns, textures and colors that have a global influence.
While trend experts may influence what you should use to furnish your home, your home needs to reflect you and your personal style.
