These are certainly interesting times, and it's curious that the times are bringing out an interesting side of men. First, I heard on the alleged "last day of the world" according to the Mayan calendar, that retired lawyer Peter Gersten of Sedona was planning on jumping off of Bell Rock into a portal that would be formed there - at 11:11AM on December 21, 2012. By the way, Gersten did decide against making what would have been a fatal fall.

On a more serious note, yesterday I learned that the Chicago area Daily Herald reported that Illinois Senator Mark Kirk, who has wrestled with devilish issues throughout his 28-year political career, has been visited by angels. The Republican senator has been recovering from a massive stroke at Northwestern Memorial Hospital of Chicago. Kirk has openly shared that three angels visited him. The angels stood at the foot of his bed ans asked him: “You want to come with us?”
“No, I’ll hold off,” Kirk said he told them.
The 53-year-old Senator has spent the past year having intensive therapy to help him regain his ability to perform basic functions in life. According to his surgeon Dr. Richard Fessler, Kirk's mind is still very active. “His thought process is normal, and his mental state remains sharp,” Fessler told the Daily Herald.
Kirk now joins an estimated 8 million Americans who claim to have had visits by angels or some type of NDE - near death experience.
And despite all that's happened, Kirk is "committed to keeping both feet on the ground," especially as he takes some of the most challenging steps of his life: climbing the 45 steps up to the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. - as he returns to his Senate office this month.
Kirk told the Daily Herald "There's going to be a big crowd, and you can bet I'm going to be in it."
