Trying to find a job in today’s economy can be challenging. Opportunities are sometimes overlooked when it comes to small business which can encompass non-profit organizations as a resource.
Every now and then, in the search to find employment, a position comes along that is rewarding, challenging and pays some of the bills too. The Sparks Heritage Museum in Sparks, Nevada, recently posted an opening for a part-time Museum Manager.

Looking for a part time Museum Manager
The Museum Manager performs job duties under the guidance of the President and the Board of Trustees. The Museum Manager performs a variety of tasks, these include the coordination of day-to-day operation of the SHM; the provision of information to the public, assistance to the volunteers in research, organization of the artifact inventory; and the maintenance of a Museum presence online, in the regional media, and in the community. Hours and salary are negotiable for this part-time position.

An example of one of the projects recently completed was in conjunction with The Reno-Tahoe International Airport. From a recent press release:
“On June 9, 2014 “Runways to Rockets” opened depicting the history and heritage of Sparks, Nevada. This joint project between the Sparks Museum & Cultural Center, The Reno Tahoe Airport Authority and Granite Construction has been months in the making. Curated by the Museum Exhibit committee, the display features several large three dimensional objects including a Rocket and an early 1900′s Doctor’s Buggy.”
