Hollywood comedy films used to dominate the box office sales. Now, even with an all star cast composed of Steve Carell, Jim Carrey, and Steve Buscemi in the recent comedy, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, almost no comedy these days can turn a profit.
However, almost any recent Science Fiction film has either made a decent profit like Riddick or has made box office history like Star Trek: Into Darkness and Gravity.
The popularity and precision of recent Science Fiction films may be partially attributed to the enhancement of technology used to display more Sci-Fi cinematographic scenery which in turn makes more people flock to Sci-Fi movies than ever before.
It was only a few years ago that if someone were to say they love Star Trek that other people would call them a “Nerd” or a “Geek”.
The genre is perhaps more attractive these days now that more people are actually giving it a chance, even despite the fact that they may only be attending these premieres simply because everyone else is doing it.
