On March 15, the trendy shopping district of the desert, El Paseo, will become the place to be when Fashion Week El Paseo 2013 kicks off with nine days of runway and trunk shows, after-parties, meet and greets and events.
In its eighth year, the largest consumer fashion event on the West coast, Fashion Week El Paseo, expects to see roughly 14,000 people for this year's Fashion Week. The event also boasts over 50 designers, 200 models and over 200 hair and makeup stylists onsite.
Fashion Week El Paseo also benefits close to 30 local and regional charities such as Fashion Group International, Inc., The Girlfriend Factor, The Living Desert and Junior League of Palm Springs Desert Communities.
This year’s headlining designers include Katherine Polk, Sue Wong, Victor Tung, and “Designer of the Week”, Gilbert Chagoury. Edie Falco recently walked the red carpet at the 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in a beautiful, blue Chagoury custom gown. And the Daily Front Row just touted 'The Daily Front Row Loves HOUGHTON' calling Katharine Polk's 2013 collection, "wickedly chic."
If traditional fashion shows and cocktail parties don't interest you, there are still plenty of unique opportunities to enjoy Fashion Week El Paseo.
For animal lovers there's the Le Chien Couture Fashion Show featuring the designs of Linda Higgins. Higgins, a former interior designer turned doggie fashion designer, will feature her line from Classy Doggie Designs as mutts strut their stuff on the runway. This event benefits the Humane Society of the Desert and the Fashion Group International Inc.
On Sunday, March 17, get pampered and feel like a super model at the Style and Beauty Bash. Admission is free and a $30 donation gets you a makeover. The proceeds go to local charities.
