How many bully breeds wind up in animal control facilities after their guardians have lost, or have been refused, insurance coverage because of the breed of dog that they own?

How many bully breed dogs have been destroyed as a result?

Regular readers of the National Dog News column have seen the stories throughout the years...they have witnessed the discrimination that is broadly directed towards "bully breeds."

Spencer Lund is a Farmer's Insurance agent in Fairview, Ore., who knows the struggles that individuals can face if they own bully breeds because he is a proud bully breed owner himself.

Lund's current advertisement caught the eye of the National Dog News Examiner - along with a photo of Spencer with his own five-year-old dog, "Kingston," are the following words:

Looking for a Insurance Agency that wont discriminate? We are Bully owners as well, give us a call to get your policy going today!

When I reached out to Lund about writing an article about the lack of breed discrimination through Farmers, he was quick to point out that he is only licensed to sell coverage in the states of Oregon and Washington, but he could help direct someone in another state to an insurance agent that could help in their area.

Rarely are "ads" covered in this column, but finding insurance coverage for homeowners and renters who have a bully breed can be difficult and knowing that there is help, is priceless.
