Instead of Manny Pacquiao, is Floyd Mayweather “really wearing the dress?"

An advisor for WBO world welterweight king Manny Pacquiao, Manny Koncz, told ESPN.com Thursday that “Pac-Man” was prepared to fight WBC world welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather some time this spring until “Pretty Boy” formally announced he’d scrap WBA world light-welterweight titlist Miguel Cotto on May 5 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Mayweather (42-0, 26 KOs), an obnoxious blowhard who rightfully earned the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) “Fighter of the Year” award in 2007, trashed Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 KOs) via Twitter after formally delivering the announcement Wednesday.

"I'm fighting Miguel Cotto on May 5th because Miss Pac Man is ducking me."

Koncs strongly refuted the allegations made by the man who has captured nine world titles in five different weight classes.

"At no time did Manny duck this fight," said Koncz. "There's been no give-and-take from Mayweather. So who's ducking the fight?"

Mayweather, who earned a bronze medal as a featherweight at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, continued blasting Pacquiao to BoxingScene.com.

"I tried to give the fans blood, sweat and tears with Manny Pacquiao, but he didn't want the fight from the beginning," said Mayweather, 35. "This guy is ducking and dodging."

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum told ringtv.com Sunday that it’s likely Pacquiao will tangle with WBO light welterweight titlist “Desert Storm” Timothy Bradley on June 9.

Sadly for boxing fans, despite an estimated purse that could have paid both boxers in excess of $50 million apiece, the uncompromising and insatiable camps for both Pacquiao and Mayweather have prevented the much-anticipated bout from materializing.

Pacquiao, the first pugilist in history to win 10 world crowns in eight separate weight divisions, understandably scoffed at Mayweather’s refusal for a 50-50 split in revenues during an interview with ABS-CBN News on January 26.

“How can he (Mayweather) leave me out of the pay-per-view when I generate more than him in pay-per-view sales? I am still praying that Mayweather gets enlightened,” said Pacquiao, 33, named the “Fighter of the Decade” for the 2000s by the BWAA. “I believe that I am not being unreasonable.”

Freddie Roach, 51, a native of Dedham (Mass.) who was voted Trainer of the Year on four occasions by the BWAA, also blamed Mayweather for the duos inability to ink a bout
"When you call somebody out and you offer a 70-30 split you know that is a deal-breaker," Roach said in the Manila Standard. “So who is really wearing the dress?"

Mayweather and Pacquiao are both boxing legends and equally enormous attractions in the squared circle.

“Money Mayweather” simply doesn’t deserve more loot than “Pac-Man” to throw fists.

“The Fighting Pride of the Philippines” indisputably warrants an equal revenue share should this clash ever actually occur.

Venerable boxing trainer Roger “Pit” Perron from “The City of Champions” predicted Mayweather would overwhelm Pacquiao if they finally battle in November.

“If and when they fight, put your money on Floyd,” said Perron, 75, who worked with International Boxing Hall of Famer Marvelous Marvin Hagler at Petronelli Brothers Gym in Brockton.  “He (Mayweather) must be frothing at the mouth after watching Manny's last fight.”

Mayweather is a more complete prizefighter than Pacquiao and perhaps onlookers should put “money on Floyd.”

Nevertheless, Manny Pacquiao is equally valuable to Floyd Mayweather from a financial standpoint and, if the “Pretty Boy” can’t comprehend that fact, he is the one “really wearing the dress."
