If you are one of those people that hates being told that you need to eat more vegetables; however, you reach into the cooler and grab a nice cold beer. Then maybe you should try a vegetable beer. Vegetable beers fall into the spice, herb and vegetable beer classification. When you first look at a vegetable beer you will not notice any real difference in the look of the beer from a beer that you are used to drinking as it will look like a lighter colored beer. Some of the better vegetable beers that you should try are Southampton Pumpkin ale, BluCreek Herbal ale and Cave Creek Chili beer.
When you try these beers you will find the aroma of the beers will have a good combination of both hops and yeast; however, it will have the flavor of things like Pumpkin, Ginger, or whatever the particular flavor of the beer you are drinking should be. Also when you look at the spice, herb and vegetable beer classification you will find coffee, chocolate and nut based beers classified into the same variety here as well. Some good beers that you should try with these flavor profiles are Breckenridge Vanilla Porter, Young's Double Chocolate Stout and Hitachino Nest Real Ginger Ale.
Make sure when you are tasting these variety of beers your overall impression of these beers should be a good marriage of spices, herbs and/or vegetables in the beer. One last thing to know is the fact that since these beers differ so much on variety that the alcohol content of your particular chosen beer will differ, so make sure you drink responsible and you can also tell people that you not only drink responsible but you drink your vegetables as well.
