Anyone looking to begin the new year with inspiration can find it in the film Gifted Hands, a story of faith, conviction, determination, and the success that can come with all of them.
Based on the life of world-renowned pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson, this film also weaves through the story of his mother and brother, as they all work together to overcome personal challenges in discovering and fulfilling their potential.
The story follows Ben’s life from youth into college and then adulthood, featuring one of his first medical breakthroughs--the separation of infant twins conjoined at the head.
Cuba Gooding Jr., Kimberly Elise, and Jaishon Fisher star in the film, and though rated PG, there are a few emotional and intense scenes that may need discussion for younger to teen viewers. Added bonuses to the DVD are a feature on the life of and interviews with Dr. Ben Carson, as well as a featurette that follows the making of the film, and interviews with the director, producers and cast.
All together, the inspiring true story, well-crafted script, and excellent acting from the youth and adult cast, make Gifted Hands an entertaining, educational, and inspiring film for your movie list this year.
