April shines the spotlight on Earth Day, as well as celebrates animals of the world, and our relationships with them. It is a fitting month to highlight films that follow the inspiring beauty of nature and animals so precious within it.
One of the most breathtaking studies of our world is Planet Earth, the 2006 British television series produced by the BBC Natural History Unit. Each episode features a different habitat on Earth, and the animal and plant life that lives within it. Plant Earth has won numerous awards including the Royal Television Society and Emmy awards, and is a must-see as one of the most amazing studies of earth life ever filmed.
For those who seek out the theater experience, Imax Cinemas usually features several amazing and visually engaging films about nature at any given time. For an Imax location and program listing near you, visit http://imax.theaterlocations.net/.
There are also so many great films that tell the inspiring stories of people and animals. Here are just a few, including some older films that are worth finding, even though they may be long off modern radar. Born Free-1966, Seabiscuit-2003, Secretariat-2010, We Bought a Zoo-2011, Dolphin Tale-2011, Big Miracle-2012.
A great place to get more information about films, and most likely see a trailer is the website Rotten Tomatoes.
Enjoy April, and celebrate earthly inspiration!
