Inspiration LA, the 4th annual premiere vintage and recycling “kultural” Americana gathering kicks off today at the Spruce Goose Dome and Seawalk next to the Queen Mary in Long Beach. This vintage extravaganza will feature rare and vintage American fashion from the turn of the 20th century to the 1980s as well as vintage motorcycles and gear, retro street fashion, art and antiques. Taking place today and tomorrow, Inspiration LA will showcase over 150 exhibitor booths featuring 40 fashion brands, 20 artist booths and 90 vintage fashion and antique dealer booths.

With a business concept to “buy and sell inspiration,” host Rin Tanaka is the author of the My Freedamn book series (www.myfreedamn.com) that covers vintage and retro culture and style. Tanaka hopes that this event will be “a crossing point allowing inspirational exchanges to take place between vintage fashion freaks and design professionals.”

For followers and designers of vintage and retro fashion to have the opportunity to view, buy and/or sell exclusive and rare vintage finds is the whole purpose behind Inspiration LA. Global exhibitors have come from Japan, Europe and Asia to show their unique versions of vintage style, design and culture as well as to feast upon the “Americana” that only California can offer.

Global exhibitors at Inspiration LA include but are not limited to Amsterdam’s Levi’s Vintage Clothing, Berlin’s “fein und rip,” Belgium’s Eat Dust, Paco Vintage Motorcycle Helmets of Costa Rica, El Solitario MC of Spain, London’s de rien and Men’s File, several companies from Japan including Anonymousism, The Real McCoys and Clutch Magazine as well as Vancouver British Columbia’s Fas in Frank. The vintage and retro companies from California and the rest of the US showing at Inspiration LA are too numerous to list but suffice to say this is an industry heavy event.

According to Tanaka, with nearly 3000 attendees anticipated at this year’s event, “fashion professionals are paying big attention to all things “vintage” due to the big “replica boom.” Inspiration LA sponsors include Beams, Inretrospect, Glico, Calbee, JFC and Surfer’s Journal.
Inspiration LA starts today at 4:00 pm and lasts until 9:00 pm. Tomorrow’s hours are 10:00 am until 5:00 pm. For more information, go to http://inspirationla.com.
