It's the weekend! If you want to get out of the house but don't want to fill up your gas tank, there are plenty of things to do right here in Burbank. Here are just a few of them.
June 8-10: humor, hot rods, and horror.
Billy Gardell at Flappers: You may know him as the star of the hit CBS television show "Mike & Molly" or as the security guard in "Bad Santa," but if you haven't seen Billy Gardell perform his stand-up comedy routine, he'll be right here at Flappers Comedy Club in Burbank on Friday and Saturday. Gardell will be performing two shows each night, one at 8 p.m. and one at 10 p.m. If you're feeling inspired afterward, Flappers will be hosting an Open Mic Night in the bar starting at 11:30 p.m.
When: Friday, June 8 and Saturday, June 9, 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Where: Flappers, 102 East Magnolia Blvd.

Road Kings 60 Years of Rodding & Racing: In the 1940s, a young tap-dancing Tommy Ivo was billed as the boy version of Shirley Temple. By 1952 he'd appeared in more than two dozen Hollywood films, but the then-teenager had discovered a new passion: auto racing. He soon joined up with some like-minded fellows who called themselves The Road Kings, and the group has been a Burbank fixture ever since. This Sunday The Road Kings will host their annual "Picnic in the Park" car show, which will feature a special celebration of "60 Years of Rodding & Racing." Visitors to the free event can expect to see over 700 vehicles on display, from hot rods to muscle cars to motorcycles. Dash plaques will be handed out to the first 500 people, and everyone can enter the 50/50 raffle, bid in the silent auction, or browse merchandise and collectibles from on-site vendors. All proceeds benefit The Road Kings charities.
When: Sunday, June 10, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Johnny Carson Park, 400 South Bob Hope Drive

At the time of this writing, the film had a respectable 75% "fresh" (positive) rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
