Innocent dog to die in San Francisco

Holly was found in San Francisco and taken to SFACC by her finder. She was in heat and about to be bred even though she was just a pup.

The shelter called “a day or two later and said they would be putting her down tomorrow, Wednesday because she was "too energetic,"  (she is young and still "puppyish" and very dog and people friendly.)”

The finder is picking Holly up Saturday to keep her from being killed at SFACC.

This good Samaritan, appalled at the attitude from the shelter, appalled at lack of concern over just another pit bull, committed at that moment to not let Holly die.

He gave her the name Holly to make certain she saw this Christmas and many more.

He has no place to take Holly and is accepting donations for her boarding and upkeep through Reunion Rescue.

Holly is one of the lucky ones. Many dogs are being put down in San Francisco, others who are too energetic and playful.

According to health department statistics for 2009, San Francisco processed 2362 dogs into the shelter, 965 of which were reclaimed. Of the 1397 surplus, 492 dogs were put to sleep at this facility. That total equals over one third of the available dogs being killed in San Francisco.

At one of the wealthiest communities in the United States, these figures are unacceptable. Innocent dogs like Holly are currently being killed in San Francisco and this needs to end.

Reunion Rescue and the other few rescue groups who are saving animals are filled to the max and do not have the resources to take in more. Please consider a small donation to help Holly. Visit the home page http://www.reunionrescue.com to donate via the Paypal donation button for Holly.
