Inland Empire Deals of the Week: Mommies get to see mummies and more

If you are looking ahead at activities to share with the family that are local, not expensive, and educational, you might want to check out the Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art at Cal State San Bernardino, where Mommy can visit a Mummy from 5000 years ago. The exhibit is part of the permanent collection “Treasures from Ancient Egypt” and is on display September 15, 2011 until this July 31, 2012. Admission is free, and parking is $5.00.

Museum hours are: Monday-Wednesday: 10 a.m.- 5 p.m., Thursday: 11 a.m.-7 p.m., and Saturday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.. The museum is located at 5500 University Parkway, San Bernardino, CA 92407.

A nice evening stroll downtown is also always a lovely way to spend some time with family, especially if you can take that time to buy locally grown organic fruits and vegetables, baked goods, arts and crafts, and stop by the petting zoo. On Thursdays, the City of Redlands hosts their traditional Market Night on East State Street. There is entertainment for the whole family. Visit Market Night 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. every Thursday.

If Thursday is Mommy and Daddy date night, there is always the option of going to a wine tasting. Here in the Inland Empire we are lucky to have some of the finest wineries of the Southland. For a sampling, head on over to Joseph Filippi Winery & Vineyards in Rancho Cucamonga. Set in a beautiful Mediterranean atmosphere, it’s a great change of pace. You can also make reservations for their special Mother’s Day Brunch this coming Sunday.

Joseph Filippi Winery & Vineyards is located at 12467 Base Line Rd., Rancho Cucamonga. For hours and information check click here.

If you want to take a day trip, or go all out for Mother's Day, plan on a weekend at the Inn at Churon Winery. The Winery has a wine club, and free tastings for members. Their wines pair wonderfully with just about any meal. Additionally, not only is the view unbelievably lovely, but the romantic atmosphere of their Bed & Breakfast will make it unforgettable.
