Last night’s episode of “Ink Master” was titled “Baby Don’t Go,” with Dave Navarro the host and judge, with the two expert judges, Oliver Peck and Chris Nunez. The field of artists are vying for the $100,000 prize and the most prestigious title of “Ink Master.”
With eight tattoo artists already sent home, the rest of the field consists of: Craig Foster, Jackie Jennings, Jason Clay Dunn, Jime Litwalk, Joey Hamilton, Joshua Hibbard, Kyle Dunbar and Tatu Baby.
For the flash challenge, Dave announced the Jagermeister challenge where proportion will be the keyword. Last season, for the Jagermeister challenge, the artists faced off against Oliver for precision. This year, the bonds that have formed with some of the artists will be put to the test. They had one hour to create a design that shows their mastery of proportion and should be one design, they are willing to wear. As the hour was up, the pencils were put down. Their design will be put on them by another of the artists. Joey had the choice to choose the designs and canvases. Joey chose Craig. Jime got Tatu Baby. Jackie got Jason. Joshua got Kyle, who recently became friendlier, but this challenge will tell if it lasts. Jagermeister will be giving the winner an all-expenses paid trip to Germany with a VIP tour of their distillery. They will be judged as a pair and both will win.
Jackie did not like Jason’s proportions and overrode his design. The designs were hit and miss. Some were too cartoonish and other were Kyle and Joshua who will be going to Germany and will have an advantage in the elimination challenge.
For the elimination challenge, brought in guest judge from the San Francisco 49ers, Navorro Bowman, who sports many tattoos on his awesome body. For the proportion tattoo, each must do a pinup with proportions that will either keep them or eliminate them from the challenge. The canvases were the crew from last season of "Ink Master." Kyle and Joshua could choose their canvases from the group. The rest of the group will be chosen by the canvases. Kyle chose Sarah Miller and Joshua chose TJ Halvorsen.
Mark Matthews chose Jime, much to Ron’s dismay. Kay Kutta chose Craig, although he wanted Tatu Baby; he did not think she wanted him. Cee Jay chose Joey; Clint Cummings chose Tatu Baby. Ron Givens chose Jason and having last pick; Nick D’Angelo got Jackie.
The next day, they started met with their canvases and Sarah, as she was last year; a total control freak did not like Kyle’s choice of drawings and drew her own tattoo. She directed him all the way and rattled Kyle. Tatu Baby was in her glory having to work on Clint. When the time was up, they presented their work. Everyone felt that Joshua will go home. Baby was relentless in her criticism of him. Joey’s was excellent, Kyle’s was good except for one flaw on the foot. Craig’s was off with his shading. Jackie did a decent job, and the woman’s behind was out of proportion. Jime did a good job; Jason's Geisha girl was nice, but the coloring was off. Joshua’s outline was lacking, but the face will disappear shortly because it defies definition. Tatu Baby’s woman was out of proportion and back in the loft; she had a meltdown.
Oliver came to get Jime, Joshua, Craig, and Tatu Baby. Jime got the best tattoo of the day. The bottom three were Joshua, Craig and Tatu Baby. Joshua’s was voted worst by the human canvas jury. Tatu Baby was ready to go home, but they talked her out of it. Craig was the artist who was sent packing on this episode of "Ink Master" because he lacks the ability to conquer black and gray.
