Tonight’s episode of “Ink Master” was titled “Heroes & Heads,” with Dave Navarro the host and judge, with the two expert judges, Oliver Peck and Chris Nunez. The remaining artists are vying for the $100,000 prize and the most prestigious title of “Ink Master.”
With ten tattoo artists already sent home, the rest of the field consists of: Jime Litwalk, Joey Hamilton, Joshua Hibbard, Kyle Dunbar and Tatu Baby.
For the flash challenge, the word of the day was finesse. This meant that they must softly create a tattoo without being abrasive. They were brought to the Intrepid for the Fallen Heroes, where military family members who lost a loved one would receive dog tags they could be proud of forever. They were randomly given a loved one or wounded veteran whose dog tags they must engrave exactly as they wish. The artists were visibly moved by the stories they heard and Jime was voted best by the judges.
The elimination challenge was to do tattoos of people’s heads; a difficult task. The guest judge is an artist at Chris Nunez’s shop; Twig Sparks is a meticulous artist who will recognize finesse in the tattoos. Jime gave out the canvases and as expected, he gave Joshua the worst of the bunch, but after shaving the head of his canvas, he found a huge scar that will make his job harder.
They had six hours to create the tattoos, and the canvases were in a lot of pain. When the time was up, everyone was thankful. But were they happy with the finished products?
Back at the loft, the hatred between Tatu Baby and Joshua was evident. During the critique, the five artists, all got bad marks on their tattoos. When one judge liked the work, another did not. So the result is a conundrum.
As the judges critiqued all the work, they were not in agreement. All five artists were called back for the decision. The human canvases agreed that the worst tattoo was Tatu Baby’s pinup, but the artist who was sent home was Joshua. Now that he is gone, who will the rest of the artists pick on? As the final four are out for blood and the prize money on this episode of "Ink Master."
