The Devils held practice at noon today at AmeriHealth Pavillion following Tuesday's 5-4 defeat to the Columbus Blue Jackets and although Lou Lamoriello says Clowe, "has been released a hundred percent to play and practice," the left wing sat out.
"We're going to take our time and just make sure everything is one hundred percent," Lamoriello said on Wednesday. " We've been pushing him pretty hard, so we're going to make sure there's no recurrence of anything."
Clowe has been sidelined since Oct. 13 when he sustained a concussion against the Winnipeg Jets. It was the fourth known concussion Clowe has suffered from, so it's no surprise the Devils will be extra cautious about inserting back into the lineup.
Returning to practice today was Devils' captain Bryce Salvador who has missed 23 games with a non-displaced fracture in his foot. The Devils' defenseman has been out of game-action since Oct. 22 when the Devils faced the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Lamoriello also noted that defenseman Peter Harrold has a non-displaced fracture in his foot that will require him to wear a cast for a week.
The Devils will have back-to-back games this weekend followed by a three-day break before playing four games in six nights, starting Dec. 18 at home against the Ottawa Senators.
