Even though Tummy has the most adorable frown on her tan and white face, this young two-year-old pit bull mix has more than enough reasons not to want to ever smile again. During a search warrant, Tummy was seized by Animal Control and suffers from a gunshot wound under her neck.
Tummy is also on the list to be euthanized.
The New York City's Death Row Dogs, Inc. is hoping to change Tummy's tragic past into a bright new future, but need everyone's help.

At New York City Animal Care & Control, emergency care has been administered to make Tummy more comfortable, however she will need immediate treatment when she is rescued; that is if animal advocates can find an approved rescue organization to commit to Tummy's medical needs and her recovery. The gunshot wound is under the dog's neck.
Tummy had no initial behavior evaluation by Animal Care because of her critical medical condition on intake, but a volunteer who has met the dog states the following:
"She's a bit too thin, her nails are too long, all signs that she didn't receive the best of care, but her personality is all about love and snuggles. Show her a lap that's empty and she's right there! She gives hugs and kisses, snuggles in close tail wagging sweetly. Off leash she just follows her person around the back yard, not interested in much else than waiting for that person to sit down again so she can snuggle. She enjoys some treats, and as thin as she is, takes them gently and sweetly. She aced her behavior assessment indicating she'll be a good fit in just about any home... Tummy is small enough to fit in any size lap, so come in and give your lap the Tummy test. Guaranteed she'll make it work!!
Tummy is stabilized however she is suffering from a gunshot wound. She will need to see a vet for a work-up. Despite all the trauma and near death experience, Tummy is actually sweet and affectionate! She is extremely responsive and engaging. Please help her—she needs someone to nurture her back to health!"
Nearly $400 has been raised in pledges to help the rescuing organization pay for Tummy's anticipated medical help. Doesn't this dog deserve a second chance at life?
