Gabriel, the injured, stray pit bull dog who found a warm place to rest in the hay of a Glendale, Ohio village Nativity scene has found his own Christmas miracle; that is according to Tuesday morning's Facebook page post on Cincinnati Pit Crew, a nonprofit rescue and educational organization:
"Dear Cincinnati Pit Crew,
Hey it's Gabe! Just wanted to say thanks for finding me a warm place to stay for Christmas. Things are going great. Last night I explored the house and slept on the couch with my foster dad for an hour or so. My foster mom says I'm a pretty sweet guy but she didn't like it when I tried jumping on the kitchen table while she made my breakfast. I'm being good and taking my medicine without complaining. I haven't made any messes in my crate either! And I overheard my foster parents say they're getting me a toy for Christmas. Hope you guys have a Merry Christmas!
Last Friday, the brown and white dog was found by a local resident curled up and sleeping. He had likely been looking for a warm place to cuddle.
Village officials were so moved by the heartwarming scene, they took the dog to an animal clinic where he was initially treated for his injuries. That afternoon the dog was taken to the Cincinnati Pit Crew who have taken over the responsibility for the his care. Because he was found in a Christmas manger, his rescuers named him Gabriel.
It appears the dog had been hit over the head with a blunt object. He also has a wound on his hind leg which is now healing. Gabriel is expected to make a full recovery, and within the next few weeks, the organization will evaluate the dog to determine the best kind of home suitable.
