Information sought on kitten thrown from moving car in Tennessee

Last week, animal control in Columbia, Tenn. received a call about a kitten that had been thrown out of a moving vehicle along the highway.

A motorist contacted Maury County Animal Control after removing the kitten from State Highway 31. Several other cars reportedly stopped as well.

The kitten was taken to Eva’s Eden, a cat rescue shelter in Columbia.

“He’s in bad shape,” reports Eva’s Eden on their website. “(T)here is evidence that in addition to being thrown from the car, he has been suffering abuse for some time.”

Due to a horrible abscess, part of his tail has already been clipped off, and the remainder will be removed next week. It is believed he may have been attacked by a dog or another large animal.

“They pulled gravel out of his little face from being thrown from the moving vehicle,” the rescue adds.

The kitten was thrown from the moving vehicle at approximately 6:00 Wednesday night, along State Highway 31.

Officials are looking for information on the person or persons responsible. They hope that someone who stopped saw the car, got a license plate number or can identify who was in the vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to call the City of Columbia Animal Control at (931) 375-1408.

The Veterinary Wellness Center of Columbia is accepting donations for the kitten’s medical care. Call the Center at (931) 548-2523 or donate through PayPal.

On their website, Eva’s Eden said “We want justice for this little one, and want to ensure there aren’t any additional kittens or litter mates suffering at the hands of who did this.”
