New details have emerged in the rape case of Broncos cornerback Perrish Cox.
According to an affidavit acquired by the Denver Post the alleged victim believes she was drugged the night of the incident and two other Broncos were present that evening.
The woman also wasn’t sure she had had sex that night until she learned she was pregnant.
DNA tests later confirmed that Cox was the father of the child.
Cox was arrested on Dec. 9 after the woman reported the incident in late October after learning of the pregnancy.
The Broncos released a short statement Friday that read, “The allegations involving Perrish Cox are extremely serious and troubling to our organization. We will continue to monitor this situation very closely.”
The other two players present the evening of the incident were wide receiver Demaryius Thomas and cornerback Cassius Vaughn.
Thomas and the alleged victim had reportedly been kissing that evening when the two met at a night club. Thomas told authorities he left Cox’s Lone Tree apartment after the woman passed out.
Cox told authorities that Vaughn, who was living with Cox at the time, was asleep when Thomas, Cox and the woman returned to the apartment.
Thomas declined to address the issue with the Denver Post when contacted Friday.
Vaughn, however, did speak when reached by reporters.
"I hate that my name has even been brought up in this situation," Vaughn said. "I was sleeping when they got there. I feel bad that he (Cox) and Denver Broncos have been brought up in this type of situation. That's the image that I don't want to have.
“I know I was not involved in the situation but I'm just hoping everything works out the best for him. I don't know anything about what happened, or what was said or anything like that. I was just staying there, basically. I cooperated with the police and I was cleared of everything."
Both Thomas and Vaughn submitted DNA samples and results cleared both them of being the father.
Cox, 24, faces charges of sexual assault on a helpless victim and sexual assault on a victim incapable of appraising her condition.
Cox has entered a plea of not guilty, but if convicted, would face a minimum sentence of two years or a maximum of life in prison.
His trial is scheduled to begin in October in Douglas County.
