Deforestation doesn't just happen by cutting down trees, it can happen as a result of the degradation due to climate change, fires, ranching and development and unsustainable logging for timber.
The deforestation infographic breaks down the causes and the effect its life on earth. Subsistence farming amounts to 48 percent of all deforestation. Commercial agriculture amounts to 32 percent of deforestation with logging at 15 percent and wood removal causes a mere 5 percent.
Forests are essential to the quality of life on earth for all living things. The oxygen produced by forests is vital in order to breathe for all life forms. The infographic stipulates that 1.6 billion people directly benefit from forests. They provide clothing, shelter, fresh water and food. Nevertheless, forests continue to be depleted more and more each year.
