Everyone feels the effect of heat when beads of sweat roll from the forehead or from underarms. It is a natural reaction of the body due to heat, but some may not know that some individuals suffer from what is known as hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating. That is why Sweat Shield Undershirt released a new infographic on Wednesday, Sept. 11 explaining the affliction.
Sweating occurs when the body wants to cool itself. The effect is felt during high external temperatures, during exertion of energy like working out, or in response to both excitement and fear. The reaction is natural in all cases; however, some individuals have excessive sweating that is not connected to any particular happening. When this occurs, it is known as hyperhidrosis.
According to the infographic, the affliction is a medically recognized condition wherein the body does not properly regulate its output of sweat. This can mean continual or unpredictable sweating and perspiration.
Hyperhidrosis causes an average of 400% the normal amount of sweat. The affliction directly affects around 3% of the population, yet less than half of all sufferers actually seek advice on how to handle the excess sweating.
That unwillingness to check with doctors could mean even more are afflicted than doctors realize. Over a third of all U.S. Adults believe they sweat too much, and yet only one-in-twenty ever seek medical advice on the issue.
Women are most affected by concerns of over producing sweat, with 77% embarrassed by excessive underarm sweat, while 49% believe they sweat too much. But the effects are across all boards, as 80% of individuals surveyed are self conscious of the effect of sweat when meeting new people.
Sweat can affect all of us, and for those who have important functions or meetings where sweating can be a negatively perceived attribute, a sweat shield is the best protectant against embarrassing stains. That is why SweatShield.com has made a quality product to protect everyone who needs to feel confident that sweat stains wont ruin the opportunity for a good impression.
