March 12th 2014 was the 25th birthday of the World Wide Web. On March 12th, 1989 Sir Tim Berers Lee wrote a proposal for what would become the Internet. Now, 25-years later, we all enjoy this great creation. Not only do people make money from the Internet but we are also educated every day from it as well as our entertained. Here are some interesting facts about the Internet with an infographic to show these interesting facts.

The Very First Website

On August 6th, 1991, the very first website was put on the Internet. It is info.cern.ch and it only contains 153 words which is the definition of the Internet.

The Very First Server

The first server used was a Next computer which was used by the inventor, Sir. Tim Berers Lee.

The Very First Message

The very first message put over the Internet was the word LOG. It was supposed to be Log-in but there was a crash and the rest of the word couldn’t come up at the time.

The Very First Search Engine

Archie was the very first search engine that was used way before Google was invented. It came out in 1990.

First Web Browser

Mosaic was the first popular web browser which was used between the years of 1993 and 1997.

There are so many interesting facts about the Internet. Every household in the United States and even in the world has at least one computer in their home. With so many people using the Internet today, it is no wonder it is so popular these days.

Really, where would we be without the Internet today? We depend on it so much every day that it feels like there is nothing without it.
