THE SPECIFICS: LUCINDA WILLIAMS: 7 p.m., Feb. 6-7, 2013, Dakota Jazz Club, 1010 Nicollet Mall, downtown Mpls., MN,612-332-1010, $50-$60. www.LucindaWilliams.com.
Hailing from Lake Charles, Louisiana, Lucinda has been writing music since she was 6, playing guitar since she was 12 and performing since she was 17. She has stayed faithful to her country-folk roots throughout her career. Her self-titled first album was released in 1988.
Ten years earlier, her material gained her very little attention but the erstwhile Ms. Williams was not discouraged. She accepted the challenge and kept playing and writing. As she matured, the entire experience paid off and her music gained acceptance in a world more willing to listen to the female point of view.
Now she has amassed four decades of wisdom and savvy. Her music is still raw and real but she has refined it into a sound uniquely her own. The highlights include "Car Wheels on a Dusty Road", "Live @ the Fillmore" and "Blessed". The good news is she's here for two nights. The bad news is she's only here for two nights.
