Info 101: Movieclips 37: Admission is a revelation

"ADMISSION" from Focus Features opens Fri., March 22, 2013. Stars: Paul Rudd, Tina Fey, Lily Tomlin, Nat Wolf. Directed by Paul Weitz ("American Pie", "About a Boy", "American Dreamz", "Little Fockers").

An admissions officer from Princeton University (Fey) finds herself recruiting at a commune headed by her former college classmate (Rudd). Things get confusingly complicated when she unexpectedly discovers that one of his students might be her teenage son whom she gave up for adoption years ago.

Tina Fey is in another rom-com, this time with Paul Rudd. This news is as exciting as a sandwich with white bread. Oh, sure, the twist is more or less original but it's very difficult to care unless you're a Tina Fey fan. She can be funny but so can a funeral for a gummy bear.

Paul Rudd has some entertaining seconds of footage to add to his resume. So does Lily Tomlin. Mostly, it's just Tina Fey being...well..Tina Fey. So, if you're a Tina Fey fan--you win. If not, you'll be watching "The Croods" like so many others. Perhaps Paul Weitz can spend some time watching "American Pie" to remind himself what's funny and what's just bland.
